Hockey Night in Canada has represented a Saturday institution in Canadian households. The third season of the WHL Suits Up To Promote Organ Donation Presented by RE/MAX will celebrate the longstanding history of Hockey Night in Canada in a brand-new way that will spark nostalgia in hockey fans far and wide. Fans will have a chance to get their hands on the limited-edition Hockey Night in Canada-themed WHL sweaters through local auction with their WHL Club.
All games feature puck droppers.
Here are their stories:
Baby Emmet needs a kidney and a liver transplant
Emmet Steadman was born with a rare genetic kidney disease that caused cysts on his kidneys and enlarged his liver. This affects one out of every million babies. “It has been really rough,” says his mom Brittney Skorlatowski. “Our sweet baby had five surgeries in the first five months of his life.” Emmet spent the first seven months of his life in hospital in Saskatoon. These days, he’s at home, but spends 12 hours every evening on dialysis to clean his blood. “During the day, we are trying our best to make sure he lives a normal baby boy’s life,” says Brittney.
Emmet needs both a liver and a kidney transplant, but first he needs to reach 22 pounds. His parents will be tested to see if one of them can donate to him.
